Sailability Dobroyd, formed in December 1995, supports anyone wishing to experience the joy and freedom which sailing offers. Sailors are encouraged to participate at whatever level they choose - family fun, recreational sailing through to racing at club level, regattas, state and national championships to world and paralympic events.
Dobroyd Aquatic Club (DAC) is located on the sheltered shores of Rodd Point, Five Dock. DAC supports Sailability and provides accessible facilities so that all members of the community are able to utilise the facilities at Rodd Point. Sailability Dobroyd is greatful for the wonderful partnership we have with them.
We sail mostly from September thru to April each year, generally on alternate Sundays and race with DAC each Saturday during the sailing season and monthly during the winter.
We obtain funding through personal donations, charities and local business donations as well as Council and State Government Grants
Sailability Dobroyd aims to keep costs to our members to an absolute minimum so that everyone can enjoy sailing on Sydney Harbour.
The boats we use are Hansa Sailing Dinghies. We have 2X 2.3s (one being electrically assisted) and 7X 303s. These little dinghies are fun, safe and easy to sail. The design features of these little boats ensures that the sailors do not end up taking a dunking.
