Welcome to Sailability Belmont 2016 - 22/05/2016 (Belmont)

Sailability Belmont 16s will soon be celebrating 20 years of operations. Sailability Belmont 16s was established in 1997 by members of the Belmont Sixteen Foot Sailing Club after the President Mr Ken Buxton saw a demonstration of the Access Dinghy in Sydney. Mr Buxton thought that Belmont 16s could run the same scheme on Lake Macquarie with the aid of Skiff sailors and other volunteers. Several come and try days were held and Sailability Belmont 16s was officially launched in June 1997. Sailability Belmont has more than 90 sailors and over 60 volunteers. Our fleet consists of 19 dinghies, including thirteen Access 2.3s and six Access 303s (which are all 2-seaters), Sailability Belmont 16s uses the boat shed and rescue craft provided by the Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club. We have our own hospital type lifters and pontoon hoist to transfer sailors from wheel chairs into and out of boats. Sailability Belmont 16s Lakes has received support from Lake Macquarie City Council, local Lions and other service clubs, Bunnings Hardware, Belmont Retravision and many other local businesses. More recently Mulesoft, Kinship Digital, Health Inc. and Newcastle Macdonald`s Franchise Owners. Belmont Sixteen Foot Sailing Club is our major sponsor. Sailability Belmont runs sailing sessions 4 mornings a week providing `Freedom on the Water` for a variety of individuals and groups from the community. Annual membership fees are $35 for sailors and $5 for volunteers. We can cater for corporate events and large groups on Mondays, dates by request. For sailing or volunteering enquiries, please call Barry Clarke on 0249432051 or mobile 0429432051. We are always looking for more volunteers to help with our sailing programs. You don`t have to know how to sail. We will teach you. Check us out on Facebook at Sailability Belmont - NSW. You can also leave feedback or enquiries at: sailabilitybelmont@bigpond.com
